THE GOLDFIELDS.

OCCIDENTAL CONSOLIDATED. A demand set in this morning on the Exchange for shares in the Occidental Consolidated CM. Co., sales being made up to 3d. (call paid). This is the result of the discovery of some -very nicelooking- stone in tie mine. Some 20 years ago good gold wae got at the bottom of » winze that waa then down SOft., but the owners of the ground could not tope -witli the water. The present company put down another winze alongside of the old one, and, installing a plant, suceceeded in sinking 55ft. lower than the other one. Then a drive was pat in from the .bottom of the winze for 136 ft., and tne branch, of what is thought to be the Loyalty lode was met with. It is from this that the atone now on view at Mr. H. Lee's office, Hobson Buildings, was obtained, and it certainly loooks well, being of an excellent class, and some pieces &how nice dabs of good-coloured gold. There am some 75ft. of virgin country overhead, so that there is ample room for a good patch. The fact should not be forgotten that rich patches have been got previously in this ground.
