PAEROA. " (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PADKOA, Friday. At the meeting of the directors of the Thames Valley Co-operative Dairying Company this week, tenders for carting were accepted as follows: Paeroa carting, J. Gordon, £288 6/, for twelve months; Nether-ton-<Paeroa carting, G. Sargent, £1S0; Turna-Netherton carting, W. Taylor, £2 5/ per week; Waihi Sunday carting, J. Gordon, £1 per trip. Payments for the month of August were as follows: iMatatoki, £146 2/4; Netherton, £359 10/2; Paeroa, £309 14/6; Tnrua, £99 19/9; Wharepoa, £232 7/2; Hikutaia, £234 10/3; "Waitoa. £234 > 17/11; Xgarna, £32 S/6; Maoawara, £10f 19/7. Total, £1748 10/2. Nine hundred and one additional shares were allotted to present shareholders, and sixty shares to new shareholders. It was decided to pay 10} d per lb. for butter fat during the months of September. October, and November. At the present time the butter factory at Paeroa is making about two tons of butter per day. NORTHERN WAIROA. The Hobson Acclimatisation Society are leaving no stone unturned to stock all our streams with trout for future fishing. Within the past week twenty thousand trout fry were received from the Auckland Acclimatisation Society, ten thousand being liberated in the Te Kopuru lakes, five thousand, at Waimatenui, and five thousand in the branch creek at Waima. The general outlook for the dairying industry in Otamatea County is of a rosy description. The paddocks are responding to the warm, moist weatfcer, and on both sides of the Otamatea and Arapaoa the country- looks well. Most of the farmers speak favourably of the lambing season, and expect a good percentage of lambs. About fifty men are employed on Tera-whiti-Mangakahia-road, and when this important work is completed, access to abont 25,000 acres of rich Crown lands will be given. The road will be an important feeder to the Kaihu railway, and will bring Pakotai within fifteen miles of Kaihu. About twenty men are also engaged on the Taita-Awaklno-road. Luxuries such as boot polish at lOd. per tin, sheeps' tongues, tooth powder, Roslyn rugs, etc., are apparently to be struck off from the list of -those receiving charitable aid. The committee appointed to consider the question of luxuries to recipients of charitable aid reported to the Board to-day that they had agreed that medical advice and medicines would in future be given free, that allowances to some at present receiving relief be reduced, and that storekeepers be requested not to supply luxuries not specified. If luxuries, appear on the accounts, the recipients will have their allowances further reduced. WATHL The monthly meeting of the Waihi Hospital trustees was held last right. The Medical Superintendent's report gave admissions for the month 63, discharged 66, died 4, remaining for treatment 37. The secretary reported the receipt of £113 13/ patients' fees for the month. It~ was decided to raise the Medical Superintendent's salary from £300 to £350 per annum, and salaries of the Matron and nursing staff were increased by £5 each. Accounts totalling £340 19/6 were passed for payment.
