THE GOLDFIELDS.

MAY QUEEN EXTENDED. RICH GOLD IN O'SUIiLIVAN'S REEF. Mr H. Choyce (one of the directors of the May Queen Extended Com-; pany (returned last night from a visit to the mine, and brought with him several pounds of very rich picked stone, broken (some of it 'by himself) from O'Sullivan's reef. The stone was placed on view this morning at the office of Mr J. J. -Macky, Swanson-street, and was inspected by a number of shareholders and others, -who expressed gratification at its richness. The gold is coarse, an* of good colour, and the seams run right through the stone. "In some pieces the seam of gold is over an inch in thickness. Mr Choyce explained that this stone pwas got from O'Sullivan's reef, in ' a drive that is now 1,200 feet in under Una. Hill. This reef was worked in the old days by Mr J. CSullivari, but as the company did not then own the adjoining ground, he had to stop at the boundary. Since then the ground had been acquired, and the reef further developed by the May Queen Extended Company, with the result that wpfcat may prove an important disco veiy has been made. WAIHI EXTENDED. The manager telegraphed yesterday afternoon: "More quartz making in shaft from north side. Cannot tell if any sign of more water." .
