Horses: At the Haymarket on Friday last we had an average yarding and good competition tor all sound young worsers. Active spring cart and wagon horses sold at from 4,26 to £35; aged draughts, £-7 to £30; light harness class and hacks, £12 5/ to £15 10/; bakers' cart sorts, £15 to £19 15/; buggy horses, £13 to £21 5/; gig ponies, £3 5/ to £9; hacks, £6 15/ to £20; dray, £11; light cart, £10; gig harness, £10 10/.
At our Westfield fat stock market on Wednesday, the yarding of beef totalled 493. Taking the sale on the -whole, there was a slight decline in values, although' in. cases of prime oxen last week's rates -were easily maintained. Steer beef sold at from £1 2/ to £1 5/ per 1001b, and cow and heifer 19/ to £1 2/. Steers ranged in price •from £6 12/rto~£l4; cows, £4 to £810/. Fat and young calves, in full numbers, wer© easier in value. Runners made from £3 1/ to £3 S/; heavy, £2 8/ to £2 15/;. medium, £1 6/ to £1 19/; small, 10/ to IS/; - fresh dropped, 2/ to S/; 83 sold. About the usual number of fat sheep came forward, and prices hardened for prime, sorts, which formed the greater portion of the~yarding. Prime heavy wethers.realised froth £'l"4/3 to £1 6/9, heavy £1 1/ to £1 3/9, others 17/6 -to 19/6. light and unfinished 15/ toll/; best weighty ewes IS/3 to £1 0/3 (a pen of special- £1 3/). medium 15/ to i 7/6, lighter 13/ to 14/6; 1733 sold. LambrsOld" at rirom 13/6 to 14/9 for -well fattened, ordinary sorts 10/6 to. 11/9. The 71 pigs, penned - net with a brisk sale. No baconers offered. There was bnt a small yarding of dairies and stores at Westfield on Thursday. Dairycows made from £4 10/ to £S" 17/6uempty cows, £2 1/to £4-10/: yearlings,-£-1-19/ to £Vi 9/; fresh full-mouth ewes,, in lamb, 10/ to 13/.
There was but a fair yarding of both, cattle and sheep at Clevedon on Saturday. Buyers were in attendance, and, with the exception of two cows, the whole eptry changed owners. -Springers made from £4 5/ to £6 15/: empty cows, £2 1/ to £410/; fat heifers, £5; two and a half year steers, £4 12/; calves, £1 1/ to £1 10/; wethers, 14/6 to 18/; fat ewes, 15/; lambs, 10/. An average muster of cattle were offered at the Pokeno Yards on Monday, and verysatisfactory prices were realised. ■ Dairy cows and heifers brought from £4 10/ to £7; fresh empty young sorts, £2 15/ to £3 15/; choice yearling to 18-month steers, £2 13/ to £3 5/: small fat steers, £6 12/6; mixed yearlings, £1 19/ to £2 6/; calves, store ewes, 9/. Implements and sundries sold on account of Mr 'M. L. Adams brought full values.
At Runciman on Tuesday we held our usual monthly stock sale, and had a larga yarding of all classes. Prices for dairy cattle were equal to those ruling at'Tate sales. Stores were in better demand, consequently prices improved. Three to three and a-half year old steers sold at from £5 6/ to £6; two and a-half to three years, 10/ to £5 5/; 18 months to two-year-olds, £3 5/ to £4 8/; yearlings, £2 1/ to £2 12/; fat heifers. £5 to £6 17/6; store cows, £2 10/ to £3 17/6, according to age and condition; 18-month heifers, £2 15/ -to £3 10/; calves. £1 8/ to £1 15/; smaller, 19/ to £1 5/. The advertised ewes "in lamb realisedfrom 14/6 to 16/. Hides: Ox, 5d to 6id; cow, 5d to sgd; calf, 5d to SJ-d; kips, 4Jd to 5Jd; damage* ihides. 3d to 4Jd.
