ATHLETICS.
A meeting of the Auckland Centre of the N.Z. Amateur Athletic Association was held last even ing, when there were present: Messrs F. .1. Ohlson (chairman), 11. Frost, V. Langsford, G. V. HIM. aud S. F. Klarl- (see..), Cumiidenible dfceussion ensued on the question of D. Wilson's application for a record for the Three -Miles Walk, sneh application and certificates accompanying (he same, being in accordance with the rules governing such application for record, and that such application has been refused by the Council, it was eventually decided to appeal against the derision, on the following grounds: (1) That tbe decision is in contravention of the rules of the Association governing such records; (21 that assuming the ruling stated in the letter of the 51 h inst. was given at the annual meeting of tlie N.-.A.A.A., on 26th November. 100S, at Christchureh, this Centre is of the opinion that such ruling was not in accordance with the rules of the Association, inasmuch as notice of such addition In lhe rule was not forwarded by the secretary or treasurer to each secretary and councillor, at least 21 days before such meeting. In connection with our objection No. 2. this Centre wishes to stale that it received no notice of any such proposed addition, nor has it at any time received notification of the passing of such addition to the rules governing records; (3) that nowhere in the copy of rules. reviseJanuary. lOCS, nor in any amendment thereto submitted lo this Centre, is there any reference to the application for records being applied for within a specified time.
