NORTHERN UNION FOOTBALL.
ENGLISHMEN DEFEATED. AUSTRALASIA WINS BY 32 TO 15. SYDNEY, July 13. The second test match between Britain and Australasia, under Northern Union rules, took place to-day, Auatralasia being victorious by 32 points to 15. The weather was fine, and the game a hard and attractive one. In the first half the Britishers held their own, finishing only two points behind. In the second spell the Australians took charge, and in spite of a strong defence managed to add an additional 15 points, bringing their score to 32. The Britishers failed to increase their first half score, viz., 15 points; For the winners, Messenger kicked a penalty goal, and McKivatt (2), Parnwprth, Messenger, Brackenrigg, and Spence secured . tries, Messenger and Brackenrigg each converting three. For Britain, Eiley (2) and Winstanley were the try-getters, Thomas converting. Asher played a fine game, but received a nasty cut on the head through coming into collision with an Englishman. The English team left for Auckland by the Maheno this evening. ' As a result of rough play in the match, an Englishman was ordered off the field. J?BOFITS ON THE VISIT. 9.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The financial result of the English footballers' visit is excellent, and already the profits are £2000 over the expenses of the whole tour.
