An Apology Wanted.—A letter was reeei.-----;d from the North Shore Albion Football Jlub, stating that the club was not satisied with the Council's letter iv connection .villi the action of oue of the Council's offl--■i-als, and requesting an apology and an assurance .that there -would not be _ repetition of the offence. — The letter was orlered to be laid on 'the table. Lake-road Culvert—The Auckland Harbour Board wrote stating that in connec_on with the question of a culvert across Lake-road a committee had inspected the oeality, and the Board had resolved that 10 further action could be taken. Abbot-ford Terrace.—Mr Thas. Taylor requested that the Council foran the footpath n Abbot_ford Terrace East, and guaranteed the cost of £> 10/. —It was decided to do the work. Rutland-road.— _tr John Lett complained rf the bad state of Rutland-road and Bondstreet —It was decided to do some repairs In Bond-street as soon as convenient, but not to do anything to Rutland-road at present. Dominion-road.—A letter was received from Mr C. Baxter, drawing the attention >f the Council to the bad state of the footpath on the right side of Dominion-road.— _he matter of footpath repairs was referred to the foreman of works, and that of the road left in the hands of the Mayor. Water-view-road.—Mr Prank Keyte wrote complaining that the amount required for the formation of the footpath in this street was too high.—lt was resolved to refer the matter to the foreman of works for the purpose of obtaining a revised estimate. Lamps.—Mr B. Lane and others wrote pointing out the need of a lamp at the top of Lake-road. —Tbe matter was referred to the Streets and Works Committee to deal with. Cr. J. Taylor referred to the necessity of a lamp in Church-street, and it was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the Mayor and foreman of works. Carting.—lt was decided to ask the present contractor if he is prepared to accept the contract for carting on the same terms ror a further period. Tenders.—The following tenders were received for the supply of 6in cast-iron mains: Tohn Burns and Co., delivery within three or four months, £207; Briscoe and Co., delivery within one month £315* !)/, delivery within three or four months £275. The foreman's estimate was £227. It was decided to accept the tender of John Burns and Co. The tenders for laying and lifting mains (labour only) were: XI. Arnold, £113: Arthur Lloyd, £ISS; and James McGee, £111. The foreman of works' estimate was £90 10/, md it was decided to defer the consideration of these tenders. Roads. —Cr. W. G. Guiness drew the attention of the Council to the bad state of the roads generally; and also to the fact :hat Lovers' Walk was being badly cut up by leavv carts carrying san-d. The -Mayor stat_l that there had been a frequent .heavy rainfall lately, which almost prevented repairs being carried out. WYNI'ARD LODGE. Talby. ST. BE-_-DICT'S CLUB. The half-yearly meeting of the St. Benelict's Young* Men's Club took place on 10th July, there being a large attendance of members. The report showed the club to oe in a highly satisfactory state, and that t was to he congratulated on the progress it had made during the last year.
