The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the j following cablegram from their Lon- : don house, tinder date 12th July, IfllO: — "Wool. —There was a good attendance » i at the opening of the sales to-day, com- i petition by-Home and Continental buyera being active. The opening caia- , ' lognes were fairly representative. As comp_red with the closing rates at the - last series of sales, prices ruled about j the same for fine crossbred and Merino, and about par to five per cent lower ' for medium greasy crossbred, coarse ' greasy crossbred, and crossbred slipe. • America is not operating." The Bank of New Zealand has received the following cable message from its London office:—'The sales have opened with strong competition, and large attendance ol buyers. There is an active demand by Home aud foreign buyers. Prices are lower for jalLiinds.of crossbreds, par to 5 per cent occasionally; no change for all kinds of lambs' wool. Current prices for Korth Island farmers* lots, Palmerstoh North style: Coarse crossbreds, 36/40's, quality, average condition. 9Jd to lOd per lb; medium coarsebreds, 44/46's quality, average condition, lid to ll_d per lb; fine crossbreds, 50's, quality, average condition, 1/li to 1/23 per lb." The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:— OHATJPO SALE. ' At Ohaupo on Tuesday a good yarding.of cattle and sheep came forward. Grown . steers made £5 10/ to £5 18/; 3-year-old steers, £4 15/ to £4 16/; 2-year-old steers, i £3 17/6 to £4; 15 to IS months steers, £2 15/ to £3 3/; best calves, mostly steers, £2 1/ to £2 7/; others, £1 11/ to £1 13/; yearold heifers, empty, £2 12/6 to £2 16/;. empty cows, £2 12/6 to £3 of, according to condition; dairy cows, up to £7 of; heifers in calf, £5 2/6.
