) ' A DRAWN GAME. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) SYDNEY, July 9. The attendance at the match between the English and Australasian Northern ( Union teams was 45,000. The weather . was fine. The Australasian team included Papakura (full-backl and Asher (threequarters), both of ' New Zeajand, and Brakenrig, of Queensland. The game was fast and exciting, a feature being the improved tackling of the Australians. Both sides fought grimly, but in good spirit, and the game was largely free from untoward incidents which have marked sonic of the previous struggles. The Australians obtained an early lead, which they maintained until near the close of the game, when the Englishmen's weight and stamina told. The first half ended with the Australasian team leading by eight points to five. Early in the second half the local team added another converted try, but in the ' closing stages the Britishers came strongly, and just before the close of play drew - level, the game ending with the scores: Australasia 13 points, England 13. ' For Australasia, Messenger kicked two 1 goals, and Farnsworth, Courtney, and MoKivatt secured tries. For England, ! Lomas kicked a goal, and Leytham, Avery, and Winstanley secured tries, Thomas converting one. Papakura and Asher, of New Zealand, did excellent work for their side.
