Apparently, the master and his three assistants were quite rej! signed to put in at least two or three [. daj _ at their-solitary, abode, and when i visted by a launch- party, on; Sunday -- morning decided to stand by their vessel', ' f the crew of the launch then giving water a and provisions, sufficient to last for a d- day at. least. ' 1 On-the arrival of the launch at Auckj land, which was the 0.X., belonging to 1 J. J. Craig, Ltd.,-the matter was reported 5 to the police, who sent a launch out to " the scene. In the meantime, the owner c was informed, and a plentiful supply of c provisions was. sent .down to the ship- , 8 wrecked crew this morning, j The Saucy Kate Iwas formerly a well- > known trader along the coast north of 3 Auckland. She was built 30. years ago, " .but in: recent years she had been engaged * in the shingle trade- round about tho j inner portion of the Hauraki Gulf, r Another account states that the wind 3 coming in southward, an at--1 tempt was made, .to save the vessel by a beaching her, but before this.could bo c &eco_rpli<s__cl -iie started to leak.
