AUCKLAND LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY MISS B. MARTIN. The final of the provincial championship of the Auckland Ladles' Golf Club was played at the lllddlemore LlDks, Otahuhu, yesterday afternoon, when Miss E. Martin met and defeated Mlbh E. Gorrle by 4 up and 3 to play. With the exception of one shower, the weather was favourable. Miss Martin, after being a trifle nervous at the start, settled down to her game, and played much steadier and stronger than her opponent, her driving being especially brilliant. She was very unlucky at the first two or three holes In missing easy putts through mud on her. ball. Miss Gorrie was brilliant at times, but did not. play with her usual freedom, her driving Iα particular being patchy. Miss Martin did the fifteen holes in 89, Miss Gorrie taking 07. The result was received without any demonstration, which Is In marked contrast with the enthusiasm shown in other games when a championship final Is decided. / The tie In the medal competition between Miss W. Cotter and Miss J. Richmond, was won by the former by 90 to 04. During the afternoon the prizes won were presented by Mrs. E. D. O'Korke. Particulars of play are: — Miss Gorrie started off with a good drive, and was on the green with her first, but Miss Martin made a poor stroke, and got in. to the fence, bat made a good recovery, reaching, the green with her third stroke. Miss Gorrie. played steadily, winning the hole In three. Miss Gorrie got down to the right with her drive for the second hole, Miss Martin playing a nice straight ball. Miss Martin drove splendidly for the seventh, but Miss . Gorrie ■ was again weak. Miss Martin was on the edge of the green with her third, and Miss Gorrie with her fourth.
