RADICAL DISLIKE. LORDS AND THE PARTIES. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyrights LONDOIf, June Iβ. : Liberal newspapers welcome a letter by Mr. F. E. Smith (Unionist member for the Walton division of Liverpool) stating that it is impossible to defend the existing disparity of parties. in the House of Lords, and that both should have the same chance of carrying legislation. The "Daily Chronicle" declares that if this be the mood of the a Conservative leaders the conference prospects are more hopeful. : Sir Charles Dilke presided over a meet-, ing of Radical members of the House of Commons, called to discuss the situation.. The speakers did not disguise their dislike for the conference. It was finally decided that no responsibility rested on them at present. The Marquis of Lansdowne, Mr. Bialfour, and Mr. Asquith held a short conference to-day. TO MEET ON WEDNESDAY. HEADS OF PARLIAMENT CONFER. s ' ' (Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, June 16. Mr. Asquith and Lord Loreburn on the Government side, and Mr. Balfour and Lord Lansdowne on the Opposition, met and agreed to a conference. The first sitting will probably be held on Wednesday next. THE BUDGET. (Received 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, June 16. The 1910-11 Budget will f be introduced into the House of Commons by Mr. Lloyd George, Chancellor of the Exchequer, during the last week in June.
