RUMOURS CO3TCEESTIfG 3>ARCY. (By Teleeraph.— Association.) CHRISTCHHRCH, Wednesday. It was rumoured in Christehureh today -that Mr. P. F. Darcy> who disappeared mysierioasly from- Wellington a ■ few days ago, was not drowned at Happy, j Valley. The information was alleged Hi { have come from, the police authorities} in Wellington. When inquiries were' made from the police in Christehureh, however, they stated that they had received no information on the subject whatever. Two prominent members of the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council who were seen last evening stated that an inquiry had been made into the finances of the , union-, and the information they had received showed that the accounts were all in order. At -a meeting of the executive of the union this evening, it was reported that the books had been audited, and had been found to be correct, and that the way in -which they were kept reflected great credit on Mr. Darcy. A motion was passed expressing satisfaction in the way in -which he had always attended to his duties. Seven delegates— J. Cooper (president), HoooV Johnstone, McLaren, Tomert, Purvis, and Laroy— attended the meeting, and all expressed a hope that Mr. Darey is still living, al* though they said that it was Bard to account for Tn« -disappearance. •• ,
