ALLEGED LIBEL.

(By Telegraph.Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Before, the Chief Justice to-day Mr. Robert Bertling, superintendent of the Wellington Zoo, claimed £2000 from John Norton, proprietor of "Truth," for alleged libel. The case was tried before a special jury. Defendant denied that the wc*-ds complained of reflected on the plaintiff in his occupation, or had bien published falsely or maliciously, or were libellous or defamatory, and that in their natural, ordinary signification they were true in substance and in fact. It was stated that an apology had been published, which was said by plaintiff to be no apology at all, but a case of adding insult to injury. The case is proceeding.
