MAUNGATAWHIRI.
MAUNGATAWHIRI N.Z.F.U. A meeting of the New Zealand Farmers* Union was held in the schoolhouse, Maungatawhiri Valley, on Thursday evening, February 10th. There was a very good attendance. Mr. R. Lyons occupied the chair. Messrs. J. Flannlgan and A. Schmltt addressed the meeting, and urged the necessity of farmers uniting. It was unanimously agreed that the branch be reformed. The following officer!* were elected:—Mr. R. Lyons, president; Mr. E. Appleby, vice-president; Mr. R. McKenzie! secretary and treasurer; auditor, Mr. G. Lyons; committee, Messrs. J. Graham, Lincoln, J. McPherson, Boyd, and T. Senn. The branch is to be named the Maungatawhiri and Pokeno United. It is thought that Maramaroa will also Join forces It was decided to hold regular monthly meetings on the Saturday after full uwoa.
