FIRE IN THE WAIHI MINE.
LITTLE DAMAGE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. A fire occurred in the Waihi Mine this morning at 7.30, a general alarm being given by short tslasts on the mine whistle. Investigation showed that one of the men on night shift had left a candle-spider sticking in one of the seta of timber on • one of the levels. The candle burning down, set fire to one of the. legs comprising the tinvber sets, causing considerable smoke. The locality of the fire was soon discovered, and the outbreak subdued, practically ne damage being caused.
