\eßterday afternoon a meeting of tne Waltemata County Council was held, y/hea there were present, the Chairman (Mr. J. McLeod), and Messrs. \V. McCathlo, SI. Lalng, 11. U. Adams, T. Riding Balances.—The following riding balances were reported :—Waiunl, receipts £1478, expenditure, £1214, cr. £263; Takapuna £3800, £2247, cr. £1151; Tltlrang! £817, f6SO, cr. £186; Blrkenhcad £872, £027, dr. £CC ; Kankapakapa £044, £941, cr. £3 ; Kumeu £1206, £1078, cr. £220 ; AJalretahi £1180. £804, cr. £321; Wattakerei £1842, £1207, cr. £1301 Waikumete £1220, £1057, cr. £163.

Road Contracts.—A report was received from the engineer, stating that contracts for Rathgar-road, Walkoukou-rond, and Wai-nul-roud were now ready for calling tenders, and recommending that a committee be appointed to deal with the tenders. The recommendation was adopted. Burton's 11111-road.—The engineer further reported that the road over Burton"? Hill, Takapuna, had been picked over and levelled and recommended that the Tramway Company be notified of the Council's Intention to complete the work, deducting the cost of finishing from the amount to be paid for the work. The Council adopted the recommendation.

lUverhead Bridge.—ln regard to the approach to the Rlverheaa brldse, tSe engineer stated that when the bridge was commenced it was recognised that some of Mr. Buchanan's property would be required to give a good approach. He reported that on the condition that the Council lay out and dedicate a new road to the bridge and hand over the old road to him. the land would be given. The Council decided to accept the terms offered.
