FIRE AT SOUTH KILBIRNIE.

WELLINGTON, this day.

Shortly after one o'clock this morning a fire broke out in the kitchen of a fiveroomed cottage in Coutts-street, South Kilbirme. The building, which was occupied by Richard Jones, was totally dctroyed, together with the contents. The adjoining cottage, also, of five rooms, occupied by Mr. E. Godber, was burned down, none of the furniture being saved. Two houses, the same size as those destroyed, were damaged by the fire, and the firrmfcure suffered by removal All four cottages were owned by Mr. J. J. Boyd, .and insured in the London and Lancashire for £250 each. Jones' furniture was Insured in the Yorkshire Company for £ 175, and Godber's in the Australian Alliance for £75. A southerly gale was blowing at the time.
