TAMMANY IN NEW YORK.
SPOILS OF OFFICE LOST.
(Received 8.35 a.m.)
NEW YORK, January 4. Of the first list of nine municipal officers issued by Judge Gaynor, Mayor of aew iork, only one is a regular Tammsnyite.
Jooge Gaynor was Tammany's first Bminee for New York, but he has been »-strong opponent of the Hall and his nomination was designed to help Tamsany to secure control of the committee's "ministering the city's funds, and in ttage of its contracts. In this wav they «re unsuccessful, a combination of other P»rties securing the election of anti-Tam-nuurntes to the important executive office. This means a severe check for Tam™wy, and that the "grafters," who ha-re B«n taking thousands from the city TOWny, will have to get back to work. *«m Gaynor'3 nominations are interesting, as showing that he does not intend S P a y Tammany for its support or to *Wk in with the forces of corruption.
