RIVAL RAILWAY ASSOCIATIONS.

In connection with dispute between the two bodies in the second division of the railway service, the local branch of the A.S.R.S. passed a resolution on Saturday niglit, considering the formation of another society uncalled for, and detrimental to the welfare of railway men, also protesting emphatically against an alteration in the Arbitration Act as it affects railway men. The local branch of the Drivers', Firemen's and Cleaners' Association passed a resolution strongly condemning what it terms " the dog in the manger" resolution passed by the A.S.K.S. —that body not being representative of the locomotive men, and claiming that SO to 00 per cent of the latter are in association. They justify its action to obtain separate Teoognition, and stand firm to their own council as the only one in which they have confidence. GREYMOUTH, this day. The local branch of the A-S.R.S. passed a resolution protesting against altering the clause referring to the society in the Conciliation aud Arbitration Act, as such action would be detrimental to the society and railway men generally." DUNKDIN, this day. The Otago branch of the Amalgamated Kailwny Servants is adverse to any amendment of the Arbitration Act, or any other railway Act, in the direction of extending official recognition to any other railway labour organisation than the Officers' Institute and the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants.
