The weather was fine and the wicket was in good order when the match between the Australians and an England eleven was continued to-day at Blackpool, the home team, batting first, having three wickets down for 379. King added a single to his overnight score of 65 and then, in the second bal* of the "second over Carted snapped him up off Hopkins. 4—382—56. V. F. S. Crawford joined J. N. Crawford and rapidly knocked up 35, including a sixer, before O'Connor found his way in. 5—441—35. Coe came next and J. Crawford indulged in vigorous driving, hitting up 50 in 65 minutes. After making 8 Coe was caught at point. 6—474 —8. J. N. Crawford made 60 and was then caught at long-on.by Hansford, off Hopkins. He hit. four sixers and six fours. 7—491—60. Reeves was cleverly caught by O'Connor off a hot return, the left-handed bowler jumping for it. He got his total of 37 in 22 minutes, and hit six fours. 8—522—55. Jayes scored 36 freely and then O'Connor scattered his stumps. 9—553 —36. Buckenham made 3 and then O'Connor closed the innings by bowling him with the total at 5C7. The innings lasted 365 minutes. AUSTRALIANS BATTING. The Australians went to the wickets after lunch, Noble opening with Hartigan and Carter. The Queenalander at once began to score at a fast rate, although he nearly lost his wicket when he had made a single, Douglas missing him nt second-slip, off Buckenham. The halfcentury was lifted in 25 minutes, and, despite frequent changes in bowling, 100 was up in 45 minutes. Hartigan played excellent, all-round cricket, and scored his half century in 38 minutes. Carter, after playing a sound innings, was out lbw, after making 38. I—l 30 —38. McAlister came next, but, without any addition to the score, Hartigan was stumped off McGabey. 2 —130—88.
