UNION STEAMERS COLLIDE.
PUKAKI AND KOTARE. NO SEKIOUS DAMAGE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. The Union Company's steamer Pukaki, which left Dunedin wharf about 11 o'clock last night for West Coast ports, j and the Kotare, inward bound with tim- | ber from Waikawa, came into collision in Victoria channel, nearly oposite Ravensbourne. The Pukaki proceeded on her voyage, so it is presumed she was undamaged. The Kotare, by instructions, called at Port Chalmers, and took in tow the s.s. Rakiura, which has been docked and repaired. Apparently neither Captain Watson, of the Pukaki, nor Captain Trewin, of the Kotare, was aware of the other steamer's presence in the channel. The Kotare was struck on the port side, and her fore rigging on that side was carried away. jshe also received a dent in her plates above the belt and a hole above water level.
