"HONEST AND SOBER."
AN UNEMPLOYED TESTIMONIAL, (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, this day. Mr Carmody, local representative of the Labour Department, states that the latest batch of labourers from Auckland not only appeared an honest, hard-work-ing lot of fellows, but were also anxious to get to work. There was not the slightest sign of drink dn any of the men. who pleasure at being able to leave by train for their work immediately on arrival. The cost of bringing the men from Auckland (19/6) will he deducted from their earnings, so that they cannot be regarded as recipients of charity.
