MAY QUEEN.
In connection with the message from the Thames correspondent that ap-. peared yesterday regarding the MayQueen mine, a second wire to-day explains that the Junction of the No. 4 and north-west lode was cut at the intermediate, not the 1000 foot level. LANIGAN'S ANTIMONY AND MINERALS, LTD. The secretary of the above Company has received the following letter from the Company's managing director, Mr R. P. Creaghee. "In view of the probable visit of a prospective purchaser to the mine, I gave instructions that development work on Skeleton Hill be stopped, and all hands centre their energies on showing the mode of occurrence of the ore in all workings. This is work that is positively necessary if the good points of the property are to be explained to people interested. At the same time, I might mention, it is work that will not bring the CJompa*y any profit, the two wires I have received are explanatory enough. As soon as the object I have mentioned has been achieved, work will be resumed in Bullen's level. CHAMPION. At a recent meeting of shareholders in the Champion Gold Mining Company a decision was arrived at to guarantee 3d. per share to further test the property. In connection with this arrangement applications have already been received for 100,000 shares, together with the payment of 2d. per share. The directors of the company have therefore put on seven men to rise from the low level in solid country, and connect with the intermediate. This rise is now up 15 feet. The intention of the directors ie to have parcels of ore taken from different parts of the various reefs, and put them through the Company's ten stamper battery to acertain the general value of the ore. In the meantime the assayer and the mine manager are together taking samples from the various lodes foT testing purposes. Mr. Esra Cartwright, formerly of the Talisman Consolidated Mine, ha 9 been appointed manager of the Champion property. Should the battery tests prove Ithe ore payable, there are enormous quantities available. MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Kapowai.—Good progress Is beine made clearing away the slip at No. 2 level.
