It was decided to join with Grey Lynn and Arch Hill in the appointment of poundkeeper and ranger, and that the ranger have control of the whole district. Mr. Brooks attended with plans and specifications of a new road-Bannerman-roud. near "Western Spring-road.- It was decided to approve of the plans, etc. The Board resolved, in answer to a report of Mr. \V. W. Dicnan, who submitted plans, etc.. of a new road called Meola-roud, to visit the road on Snirdoy afternoon. It was decided to enforce the heavy traffic by-laws. The chairman was appointed representative to the Auckland and suburban, local bodies' conference. North-road, which shows that the district I ia progressing. EPSOII ROAD BOARD. The Epsom Road Board nek , its regular meeting last night. The chairman (Mr W. R. Bloomneld.i presided, and there were also present Messrs J. Edgerley and T. Grainger. Fire Brigade.—A letter was received from the Newmarket Borough Council Informing the Board that it could not allow its fire brigade to attend fires outside the borough, unless some understanding was arrived at for paymetii of the brigade's services and use of appliances. Barton-road.—A letter was read from the City Council acknowledging receipt of the Board's letter, suiting that, in the Board's opinion, the proposed expenditure for the improvement of Barton-road was not necessary, aud that Therefore the Board could not see its way to contribute to the cost, but would be prepared to send delegates to discuss the matter at a conference with the City and Eden Councils. In reply the City Council stated that, as the proposed improvements would not be on the city side of the street, and in view of the expression of opinion by the Board, the Council had decided to take no further action. The letter was received. XORTnCOTE BOROUGH COUNCIL. The monthly meeting of the Northcote Borough Council was held last night In the Bay View Hall. Mr. H. Oadness (Mayor) occupied the chair, and there were also present: Crs. Geo. Fruser. B. Van Veen, A. E. Oreenslade, A. Waterworth. A. W. Tyer, Jas. Stewart, J. B. I'onar, aud 11. 11. Hunt.

Queen-street. —It was resolved to put in temporary drains in front of ,Mr. lEptlug's shop as fat- as Messrs. Hellnby's shop.

Ferry Crossing.—The Auckland f'itv Council notified that a temporary crossing would be lairl down in Quay-street, from the Northcote ferry tee to the opposite side. 'Bus-drivers.—On the motion of Cγ. Van Veen, seconded by Cr. Hunt, it whs decided to draw the attention of the owners of vehicles plying for hire to the danger of boys driving, and asking them to remedy this matter. Hospital Rate.—The Auckland Hospital Board notified that the amount of £100 2/7 had been levied as Northcote , s share towards hospital and charitable aid, in addition to £3 for infectious diseases' hospital. New Road.—lt was decided to accept dedication of \vaJmea-avenue from Mr W. H. de Luen, on the terms agreed upon between Mr. de Luen and the Council. Fire Brigade.—A letter from Mr. B. Brigade, was referred to the Fir e Committee. The writer notified that the firehell would be erected next Monday, and stated that the brigade had collected £18 towards the purchase of uniforms, but were in need of further contributions for this object. It was decided to ask Cnpt. Petterd to furnish the Council with a plan showing the I positions of the fire plugs. Waterworks.—The waterworks engineer reported that 819,115 gallons had been pumped for the month, but the increase was due to a burst in the main on the Lake-road. Works Committee.' — The report of the Works Committee was adopted, with the addition that Heath's road would be attended to by the surfaceman as soou as possible. Financi.nl Statements.—On the motion of Crs. Waterworth ami Fraser, it was decided that future statements would show the loan expenditure separate from the general account.

Vehicular Stage.—On the motion of Cr. Hunt, it was refolved to again approach the Auckland Harbour Board, with a view to having vehicular stages constructed at tbe Northcote wharf.
