POLICE COURT.
THIS DAY. (Before Messrs. S. J. Nathan ana C. Xorgrovp. J.P.'s.) THE DRUNKARDS. Walter Saisfield, a second offender was fined half-a-sovereign and costs. A similar penaltyc was meted out to Willifim Ooady. Charles A. Sullivan, who was charged ■with his fourth offence of drunkenness, and with being a habitual drunkard, was remanded until to-mor-row. Daniels, -yyho was represented by Mr. Lundon, was similarly treated, bail being allowed in his own bond of £10. Richard Harris and William R. Mclndoe were also ordered to come before a Magistrate to-morrow. Seven first offenders were dealt with in the usual way. AXUEGED THEFT. Frank B. Evans, charged with having stolen a gladstone bag and contents, valued at £2 17/6, belonging to R, Jackson, was remanded for a week. Peter Hanson was remanded to appear at Waihi in eight days on a charge of having stolen a watch, chain, and locket, valued at £10. A SERIOUS CHARGE. Albert Reid, who was represented by Mr. Lundon, wae remanded for a week on a charge of attempted rape. Bail was allowed in one surety of £200, and the accused's own Tjond of £200. AIXEGED WIFE DESERTION. Edward Rule, who was represented by Mr. Lundon, was remanded on bail until to-morrow, on a charge oi having deserted hie wife. ONE MONTH. A middle-aged man, ajvsvering to the names of Robert Xorris, alias Williams, alias Donnelly, alias Joyce, ,vas fqund guilty by the Bench on a charge of having stolen a piece of rope from the Wynyard pier, where it had been employed as a fender by a launch owner.
