Shares in the Waihi Grand Junction mine advanced in price this morning, free sales feeing made up to 37/-, whiie" for the options 11/ % was paid, and still offered. This rise was due to the following important information, which",was posted on the Exchange:—The.following calble has been sent to London office: "No. 6 Lode, 'C west, referred to in my telegram of the 28th, quartz, reef is probably the main Royal lode; apparently the present width is 20 feet, value £4 10s. No. 4 lode west at No. 4 level, winze No. 5, is down 90 feet, crosscut through the reef 13 feet, of which 10 feet averages £2 10/-. MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. ' Kuranui. — Thirteen feet have been driven on the Blyth reef. The ore body Is three feet wide and looks well. Several asayß were made from various parts of the reef during the past, the values obtained being £2 1/6, £3 14/8, £2 12/6, and £3 11/9. The whole distance from the outcrop down, aud with the width of the ore, promises well for the future of the mine: Hansen's leader is small, but gives every Indication of making stone. Alburnla. — Cleaning out and repairing of the Sons of Freedom level will be completed ahout the end of .next week. The ventilation l s now all that could be desired, and as soon as the repairs now In hand are completed. It Is Intended to drive a series of crosscuts to Intersect the Sons of Freedom and Dixon's reefs, at the various levels from the Sons of Freedom level downwards. Karangahake. the past week at the Tauka.nl low level, the country has .been more diflicult to break. The total length of the tunnel .to date Is 615 feet. On the new reef, development work has been vigorously pushed on, a quartz paddock has been excavated, and driving both ways on the reef from the crosscut Is now In progress. In the face going north-east the -reef ;ls a solid body of good looking quartz fully 4ft wide, from which most excellent prospects can be obtained. In ■the south-west face the quartz Is about 3rt wide, and shows gold in the dish all through. Judging from the prospects obtained in the dish, the quartz going down below the floor of the level Is flrst-class ore, ■and the manager ds of opinion that when developed this reef will turn out .Wrge quantities of payable ore. WAIHI MINES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI* this day. With reference to the large body of quartz struck in the Grand Junction mine the other day. tbe crosscut oh the west walls is now defined, proving the lode to be 24 feet wide, carrying good, payable ore. The first assay at 9 feet gave a value of £5 12/6 per ton. Mr: David Zlman and bis brother are visiting 'the Consolidated mine to-day. The Minister for Mines arrives this evening, aud a conference of mining Inspectors will be opened to-morrow. SHAREMARKET. It is reported that an empty punt, marked A.K. 335. has drifted ashore near the sandspit at Chamberlain's Island. The Tauranga Borough Council are inviting tenders for improvements to the town wharf.
