Grey Lynn. —Devonport ! (Ballantyne) 17, v. Grey Lynn (Baildon) 16. " , Devonport (Rolfe) 17, v. Grey Lynn (Waite) 17. The contest between Devonport and Grey Lynn was the closest and most keenly fought battle of the round, resulting in the Devonport combination wresting honours from their Grey Lynn opponents by the bare margin of one point on the two rinks. The game between the teams skipped by Rolfe and Waite was particularly exciting, and occasioned a lot of interest. At the tenth head the score stood 8 all, and then Waite put on one, Ralfe replying with a nice four, bringing the figures at the twelfth head to 12 —9 in favour of the North Shore men. At the sixteenth head the score was: Rolfe 15, Waite 12, but in the next head Waite lay two, reducing the gap to one. Then the Devonport team put in a couple of singles, making the 19th head stand at 17—14, but in the two succeeding heads Waite's team scored respectively 2 and 1, a hotly-contested struggle thus ending in a draw. The game between Ballantyne and Baildon .was almost equally fierce in its excitement. At the fourteenth head the figures were 14—10 in favour of Grey Lynn, hut between this and the twentieth head they stood still while the Devonport team was putting on six, giving them a lead of 16—14. On the twentieth head Baildon lay two, bringing the game to 16 all, but at the last head Ballantyne notched one, the play ending 17—16 in his favour. THE AGGREGATES. Ponsonby, 58, beat Auckland, 29.
