In attempting to ford Anaawanrvwai Creek, Miss Scott's horse fell, and was swept over the •waterfall, but ;tihe rider got safe to 'land. On another occasion the doctor suffered a nasty fall over a cliff, 'brat •regained the track, amd finally reached Lake House, fatigued and buffeted, bnti safe. Here they received ercry attention. The manager, Mr. CbaJLis, and a party had spent all the previous njgtot in searching the Huirua 'track. Tie arrival was somewhat of a surprise, aa a telegram was previously received sbai* ing that Dr. Scott and Iris daughter "were visiting Rus's camp, and from. left for Wh&kxta.ne.. . ■ (By Telegraph.—Press "' WATE.OA, th£s-day. Dr. Scott and his daughter left Waiotapu on Monday, 13th inst, and reached Galatea the same day. Leaving their, bicycles they started on foot for the lake, reaching' Te Whaiti without mishap. After leaving there they became bushed! for three days, on two of which they were without food or fire, their matches haying got wet. They slept in the fern and spent an uncomfortable time. Most of their clothing was torn to ribbons by the bush lawyers. Two Maori women found the party one day's inarch from Whakatane, ,and provided .them,with; food and a tent.i Next day the Maori guided -them to Lake House, where they arrived at 7.30 last night, quite exhausted.
