CHRISTMAS EXCURSIONS.
THE HOLOXA.Y PROGRAMME* PTBST BIGHT-THKOUGH OVERI/AXD SERVICE. Holiday excursion tickets, available for return up to February 15, will be issued from all stations to all stations on the Auckland section of the Government railways from to-day until January 2. The fares will be 2d. per mile first class, and Id. per mile second class, mileage to be counted one way only. The journey may be broken after travelling 25 miles from the original start-ing-point.
From Friday next until January 18, extra express trains will run from Auckland, Taumarunui, Tr Aroha, Paeroa, and Waihi. This tram will leave Auckland at 10.35 a.m. daily. The 10 a,m. Auck-land-Rotorua express will not have direct connection with the Thames, Waihi, and Taumarunui lines.
On Thursday, December 24, a special train will leave Auckland for Rotorua at 10.40 p.m., arriving at Rotorua at 6.50 on Friday morning. This train will leave Rotorua on the return journey at 0 p.m. on Sunday, 27-bh, arriving in Auckland at 5 a.m. on Monday.
Special arrangements are also announced in connection with the races at Ellerslie, on December 26 and 30, and January 1 and 2. races at Parawai on December 26 and 28. and sports at Hxrmilton on December 26.
The Auckland railway authorities have been «delugod with inquiries as to what arrangements will bo made in regard to the Christmas traffic between Auckland and Wellington. As the result of a telegram received from headquarters this morni'mr, it is now announced that a throujrh service has been definitely decided upon, commencing Monday. December 21, and continued daily till Monday, January 4 (Christmas Day and Sundays PxcepteJ). A fast passenger train will leave Auckland for Wellington at 9.15 each evening, arriving at Wellington at 5.45 p.m. the following day. On the same days a train will leave Wellington for Auckland at 10.30 p.m.. arriving at Auekla-nd at 6.47 p.m. the following day. This train will stop at very few stations en route, and. as a dining car will be attached, passengers will experience no difficulty in getting their meals.
