MEETINGS & ENTERTAINMENTS
ASSISTANT MASTERS' ASSOCIATION. At the Foresters' Hall, Newton, on Saturday, the Auckland Assistant Masters' Association held their annual meeting, the President (Mr Dunlop) occupying the chair. That the association had had a very successful year was proved by the report and balance-sheet. The membership had increased until all assistants except twelve were financial members. The meetings had been well attended, and had been made more popular by various innovations, and the papers and debates had had direct reference to the work of the schoolroom. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £3 3/6 (receipts £25 9/1; disbursements, £22 5/5). The opportunity was taken of congratulating Mr G. H. Plummer on his recent promotion to the position of inspector, Mr Plummer brieiiy returning thanks. He would continue to take a deep interest in the doings of the association, although his appointment necessitated his resigning his membership. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: President, Mr L. 'Sheppard; vice-presidents. Mr R. Campbell aud Mr W. Bowdeu; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Vuglar; members of executive, Messrs Dunlop, Warren.' and Doull. A vote of thanks was passed to all who had promoted the welfare of the association, including the 'Auckland Press. • The following contributed entertaining items at the conclusion of the business: —Messrs Gatenby, Wilson, Plummer, Campbell, Warren, Melnnes, and Hare.
