WHANGAREL

The Whangarei Savage Club brought Hieir 1908 session to a close by holdiug a ladies' evening In the Theatre Koyal. Bro. McEHvaln. of the Aueklaud Savage Club contributed neveral items, aud i va s recalled again and again. The singing of the Whaugarei Suvsige Club male quartet was quite a feature of the evening.

On Tuesday night n concert was given by Miss Beresford iuid her pupils lv the Theatre Koyal, the items on the programme being given in first-class stylo. Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Hodges, who assisted, contributed much to the enjoyment of the audieuee.

At the Invitation of Mr. T. H. Steadman. the children above Standard I. lv the Whanparei aud Uorahora schools were treated to a harbour excursion in the s.s. Coromandel. Upwards of 300 children and their teachers were present, aud all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
