The new ferry steamer, Matangi. which has just been completed by Messrs. Logan Bros., of Auckland, for the ferry service between Duncdin and Portotello, has been specially built to suit the requirements of Otago Harbour. She is twin-screw with large double decks, and is capable of carrying 500 passengers. She can steam ten knots, and it is expected to do the trip from Dunedin to Portobello, allowing for all stoppages, in one hour.
At the City Market Auctioneers' Association sale tiiie morning strawberries realised 1/2 J to l/4i. There was a good quantity of iirat'class berries.
