WAIKATO HUNT CLUBS RACES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CAMBRIDGE. Wednesday. The Waikato Hunt Clnb's annual race meeting was held at Victoria I'ark unlay, about 800 people being present The racing was good, with some close finishes. The results aru as follows:— Hunt Club Hurdle Race. —Goldsmith 1, Laddie 2. Anna Lombard 3. Goldsmith won by JO lengths. Maiden Welter Handicap.—John 1. FieldMarshal 2, Chiurinian :.!. John won by li:ilf-a-lpntrth. Hunt Clnb Steeplechase.— Mawhiti (Mr. S. Hanks) 1. Crispin (Mr. J. Ranks) 2. Reckless also ran. but fell at the first hurdle. Crispin held a bis lead, but sprnng a tendon and fell, allowing Mawhiti to pull off the eve.ut. Rardowie Handicap.—Aristocrat 1, Wainou J., Azoff 3. Aristocrat won easily. Ladies' Bracelet. —Koßorerc 1. Chiariniau 2. I'ampcria 'A. IJosnvcrc won by ha'f-a-lencth. Electric Handicap.—rrontino 1, Keepstep 2 John ••'.. Maiden Steeplechase.— Goldsmith 1, Laddie -■ Goldsmith won easily. MARTON JOCKEY CLUBS SPRING MEETING. (By Telegraph.—l'rcss Association.) MA ETON, Wednesday. The opening day of the Marron Jockey Club's spring meeting was held in beautiful weather to-day. The. .sum of £ftS4l was put through the tulalisators. The following are the results: — Hunt (.'tip. Janclla 1, Ballancc 'J. Whipcord 3. Won by two lengths. Time, 3.46 2-3. Electric Haudicap. —Whetnninraina 1, Sir Antrim 2, Koynl Maid :t. Won easily by two lengths. Time. 1.4 :>r>. Martou Handicap.—Silken Iteln i. Comedian '1, Maharanui X Won easily by two lengths. Time. 1.47. Handicap Ilurjlie Race—Lyrist 3. Papatawa 2. Speciosa S. Won by two lengths. Time, 2.5f1. Tutaenui Welter Handicap.—Cauldron 1, Tuatohi 2. Tosami .1. Won by two lengths. Time, 1.3-1. MARTON RACES. MARTON, this day. The weather is fine and the going splendid for the second day of the Marton meetin™. Results:— Telegraph Handicap.—Frisco, 9.0, 3; Kareroa. 8.3. 2; Waihuku, 7.3, 3. Also Tan: Rangipapa, Splendid Idea. Toa Tuhi. Silver Lead, and Mllleuial. A great race. Kareroa got a break of a dozen lengths at the start, but Frisco put in a great run, and won by a length. Time. 1.10. A protest was lodged by the owner or Karc.roa against Frisco, for inconsistent rimuing. After full iuqulry. the protest was, upheld, and the owner and horse disqualified during the pleasure of the club, the stakes being awarded to Kareroa. Hunters' Hurdles. — Taupo 1, Netherby 2. Ballance .'i. All started. Time 8.31. Flyinp Handicap. — Llanwern 1. Mistime 2. Sir Artegal :i. All started. Won by a I length, a neck between second and third. The proposal of the Wellington Education Board that the Act should! he so amended as to make education sweepingljcompulsory in thai* insteadl of ten halfdays constituting a week's attendance, the number should be fourteen, has been dropped, and is not included in the Education Bill as it has come from the Local Bills Committee
