The ship was kept dead before sea, and oil bags were brought into use, but at 1 p.m. another heavy sea was shipped, which washed the lifeboat out of the chocks, nml sliorlly after the steamer was pooped, washing the wheel gratings away, and staving in the wheelbox. The ship was then hove-to. until 7 a.m. on the 31st, when the weather moderated sufficiently for her to be put on her course. Thence a moderate breeze and sea were met with, prevailing until arrival. J The new wing of the Government Sanatorium at Rotorua ha s just been completed. It is now Ueing furnished, and will be ready for patients in a week's time. This adjunct will accommodate twelve additional patients in a comfortable manner, as the old-time open ward system has been abandoned, and cubicles erected', which provide a greater degree of privacy for ea-ch patient.
