TRAMWAY CONCILIATION BOARD.
(Continued from page 5.) Edwin Morris, Chief Inspector at the Ponsonby Depot, gave evidence regarding the meeting of Inspectors some three years ago. The meeting was to formulate a petition asking for certain alterations regarding inspectors. One thing the_y wanted altering was that Inspectors should be excused from carrying bags of tickets for sale to passengers. Questions of uniform, rates of pay, etc., were also brought up. There was nothing in the nature of a complaint against the traffic manager. Witness had checked time tables on and off, and it was simply to assure themselves -that the time table was being observed something near the time stipulated. Regarding the statement that witness suggested to Inspector Walker that it was not advisable to board with conductors, that was merely friendly advice. He detailed the circumstances in connection with the episode related by Conductor Guy. Regarding the episode when he wore false whiskers, it was essential that he should get witnesses in connection with a fatal accident and by adopting that device he was enabled to do so. To Mr. Rosser: As the result of the meeting of inspectors, three years ago, a petition was forwarded to the management.
