ENGINEERS' DISPUTE.
(Be Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. A meeting of the Conciliation Board was held this afternoon to consider the engineers' dispute. An application for exemption was made by Mr Mack, on behalf of Jenkins and Mack. His firm, he said, were not engineers, but were plumbers, coppersmiths, and tinsmiths. The Court undertook to consider the matter. William Cable and John P. Luke gave evidence for the employers, opposing tho surrrrested reduction of hours from 46* to 44°pcr week, and urging that the emploj'ers were not at present in a good position to face over-sea competition. The evidence of two witnesses on behalf of the employees was heard, and it is expected that the Board will file it's recommendations on Thursday.
