Murray, Gallaher, and Stewart. The sub-committee for. the arrangement of the lunches for the.men held a , conference to arrange details after the j meeting. I By an inadvertent error the names of Messrs. S. J. Nathan and H. D. Heather were omitted from the committee in - connection with the shipping display. The committee entrusted with the entertainment of the non-commissioned officers of ihe fleet is the executive commit- , tee of the Auckland Garrison Non-Com-missioned Officers' Club jointly with the officers named in yesterday's issue. I SOUVENIRS FOE THE MEN. I I The meeting of the executive committee this morning was attended by the I Mayor (Mr A. M. Myers), Messrs FinI layson, Kirker and H. G. Palethorpe (sec- ' Iretary). • j The meeting approved of the designs I 1 in connection with the souvenir booklet to be presented by tee City Council to . each man of the fleet. This'volume will contain a series of views of Auckland, in- ! eluding pictures of the principal streets, the harbour, and two or three of the thermal springs district. The cover will be in stiff cardboard, and -will be ornamented with the flags of Great Britain, the United States and New Zealand. The pictures will comprise some 20 pages, end will be printed on high art paper. The work is being executed by the Brett Printing »nd Publishing Company. THE DECORATIONS. Mr T. H. Hamer (Government Commissioner) has received word that Mr A. ■Rekkel (Government Electrician) will ar- j rive in Auckland at the end of nest I week, bringing with him the greater part! of fche material for the illuminations. A | portion of this will also be forwarded to Auckland by the Talune, Mr T. Pearson, landscape gardener to the City Council, is expected to return any day from the Northern TVairoa, where he has been arranging for the cutting and "forwarding to Auckland of the necessary quantity of greenery and I ferns. One truck load of Iycopodium from Ro- j j torua has already been arranged for, but j it has now been found necessary to j procure three or four aditional truck j loads. . ; Mr W. E. Bush (City Engineer) is at j present engaged in attending to the de- j tails of the designs for the street decora- j tions. THE PROGRAMME. ; " —— ~~ i The Auckland Uedertafel has arranged to entertain the men at a smoke concert in the Military Hall on the Tuesday evening. It was previously decided that the i Orphan's Club woudl ensertain the offi- ' ! cers on the Wednesday evening, and I the Savage Club on the Thursday. An exchange of dates has been announced, the Orphan's Club to give their entertainment on the Thursday and the Savage Club on the Wednesday. The entertainments for the men will take place mainly at the Military and V.M.C.A. Halls., Sub-committees have been appointed in connection with both places. Mr. T. H. Hamer, Government Commissioner, has been advised by Mr. Donne, who is at present in Wellington, that he is to-day conferring with the Prime Minister chiefly as regards fleet matters. Preparations are under way, and ■ material is being procured for the build- ! ing of the annexe at the Military Hall The Public Works Department has also < commenced the work of erecting the re- ' ception dais on the wharf. WELCOME FLAGS.
