"V ■■■" *" :■'" SHAKEMARKET. Although business was on the average rather quiet on the Exchange to-day, still one or two lines advanced in price. Bank of New Zealand shares, after selling as low as £9 last evening) changed hands at f 9 6s. this morning, and N.Z. Cements sold at 24/9 and 24/6, and buyers offered 32/- for River Plates. In mining shares the changes were generally in the direction of lower prices. The exception to this was Grand Junctions, which shares advanced from 32/9 to 34/. Crowns sold fairly freely at 6/8 and 6/9, and Talismans sold down to 45/9. Further transactions took place in Waihi shares at. 183/-, and Consolidated Goldfields weretransferred at 14/-, at which figure there were still buyers.*' TALISMAN CONSOLIDATED. The Superintendent of the Talisman. Consolidated Company, Mr Stansfield, has received the following cable from the Talisman Consolidated, London:— "Annual general meeting held to-day. Wilson has been elected director. Propose to appoint Stafford director at board meeting next week." This refers to the appointment on the board of directors of the company, of gentlemen suggested by New Zealand shareholders, owing to the large proportion of the shares being now held in the Dominion. The Mr Wilson referred to is Mr George Wilson, whose appointment was advocated by the Wellington; Committee, and the other was recommended by the Auckland Committee, Mr B. _L Stafford, well known here in connection with the Waihi Company, but who has now gone to reside in London.' SOUTHERN QUEEN. The manager of the Southern Queen G.M. Company telegraphed yesterday afternoon—"Banked 30 ozs. IS* dwts. of melted gold, value, £84 19/6." About 16 loads of ore were treated for this return. LANIGAN'S ANTIMONY AND MINERALS, •" V ■' /: - LTD.- . Considerable improvement in the prospects of this mine has taken place within - the last month. The run of ore, the trend, of which has been: missed for. a considerable time,. has again been picked up, and more men. are to be engaged at once to'expedite the sinking of the winze to a depth that will give at least 70ft of backs to the present level. The manager does not consider it advisable.to drive iipon the ore body at any lesser depth.'' The chairman of directors returned from the mine yesterday, after a short visit of inspection, and is well pleased with developments. Good sulphide antimony ore has been stripped the full depth of the winze (2'6f t), and some samples that have been brought to Auckland are richer than any previously wb«' from mine. The manager considers that ft_ kas so far proved a run of 176 ft of the ore, ; ; C'., MINE MANAGERS' REJJPORTS. Scandinavian.-—Mr. -William Goldsworthy has. been appointed mine manager, and takes charge at ence. Mountain King:—The low level has been extended 20ft for the week, making" a total distance of ,59ft from starting point. The country, is; Arm, but. of a nature for. speedy working, and is improving as the drive advances. ■Silver Hill.—The manager Is now satisfied the sft reef he cnt last week is the one the low level was; started to intersect He is letting a contract to drive. 100 ft on this reef, in order to open it up speedily.
