THE ALLIANCE CONVENTION.
REFORMS WANTED. (By Association.). WELLINGTON, this day. This morning the session of the Nolicense Convention was continued. Mr. J. A. D. Adams moved that Parliament be approached with a view to the abolishing of 'bottle licenses. The motion was carried. Mr. G. B. Nicholls moved, and it was caried, that Parliament be asked by the New Zealand Alliance to grant no new brewery licenses or permit depots within or on a nolicense district's borders, also' that all depot permits in such a position be withdrawn. Congratulatory resolutions were passed to the United Kingdom Alliance and the President of America on his anti-saloon attitude. It was also resolved to frame a Bet of questions to be put to Parliamentary candidates, to ascertain their views on the no-license question. The Government, is to be urged to amend the electoral laws in order that rolls close three weeks before the issue of th* writ. The Government is also to be requested not to trade in alcoholic beverages through its viticulturist and tourist departments or otherwise, and that all tourist hotel licenses be cancelled.
The next convention is to be held in Christchurch.
