WELLINGTON, this day. The High Commissioner cables from London, under date of June 13:— The mntton market is dull, trade for all classes being very slow, and prices barely maintained- Canterbury, •.Jd; North Island, 3jd. The lamb market is very firm, with good demand for all brands, and prospects are favourable for obtaining high prices during this season. Canterbury, s_d. There is a better demand for beef, owing to reported scarcity in America, but no change In prices. The butter market is firm, with good demand. The stock of New Zealand butter is exhausted. Danish is quoted at 112/: Australian, 104/; and Siberian at 102/ per cwtThe cheese market is quiet, but there is a steady and fair demand for better grades of white makes, of which there is a smail supply quoted at 62/. and coloured, which is in large supply, at 57/ per cwt. The hemp market is quiet, with small business doing. The following are current quotations: Good fair grade, on spot. £26 liV; fair grade, on spot £2-. 10/: fair current Manila, on spot. £24 10/: July to September shipments of good fair grade. £27: fair grade £25; fair current Manila, £25 per ton. The wool marke: is but steady. Current quotations for Bradford tops are as follow:—36s. low crossbreds. 93d; 40's. low crossbred?. 10_d; 445. medium crossbreds. lLjd: 50's half-breds. l,'3j: 365. quar-ter-breds. 1/6J; 60s. merinos. 1/9. Kauri gum is quoted as follows. Ordinary to fair ihree-quarter scraped. 160': fa>-ralr- I scraped. 105/: brown, fair, half ;#• three- I qnarter scraped. S5/; brown pickings, common to gooa. 50 : bush, fair'to good, pale | and amber, scraped. 123/. The stock held in London amounts to 563 tons, and there is a fair demand for better grades.
