WAIIII, this dny. On Saturday nftemoon last under somewhat disagreeable atmospheric conditions. both the course and greens being very heavy, Messrs. Gray and Jackson played off the remaining number of holes in the challenge cup competition. From the o.itset the match wn3 of the "ding dong" order, neither of the exponents displaying any particular prowess above a normal form but at the 16th hole Jackson duffed his drive, and his opponent taking advantage of this error, easily gained the honour, and at the 17th he drove a perfect ball, and lying dead off his approach holed In a beautiful three, thus winnine the cup by 2 up and 1 to play.
