(1) The first business is to thoroughly clean the gun, (2) and to bag the borrowed dog on the first shot. (3) It is not advisable to shoot at birds with cows in the line of fire, (4) payment being generally extracted by the gentle aid of a pitchfork. (5) The local inhabitant always says, "You should have been here last week. There ware tons of them here last week!" (6) In desperation t the amateur shooter bags a solitary magpie, (7) and has his name taken by the wary policeman for destroying protected birds. (3) Lastly, when he returns home with the bag (lie stopped at the poulterer's on his way!), to find his wife sarcastically incredulous (it had to be cooked at once), puts a neat finish, on a day's shooting.
