HARBOUR BOARD.
The Harbour Board met yesterday afternoon. I'resent: The Hon. B. Mitcuelsuu icoalrman), Messrs G. "W. Basley 0. C. Uacre, W. E. Hutchison, H. Bra'duey, A. Keyes, H. Heather, J. B. Macfarlane, "a. J. Entrican, W. J. Napier, J. Kneeu. Captain JlcKenzie. Referred to Committee.—Letters from the Department ol Trade and Customs regarding charges for duty un machinery at Calliope Dock, from the Collector of Customs re wharfage on oysters, and Parnell BoroufU 1 Council ru Selwyn-terrace, were all referred to the Board In committee. The Devonport Horoush Council's appUculion for a recreation reserve iv Shoal Bay. was granted, subject to all riparian rights being extinguished. The Auckland Electric Tramways Company's application for a site near the pre sent pnmp house for the extension of that builtliug was referred to the Board in com mltteo, as was Messrs Jlaasey Brothers' nppllcatlon to be allowed to temporarily oo- ■ cupy the allotment near the morgue, uutil it was required for widening Customs-street, ami a letter from Mr R. Porter, complaining that the time-table was not kept to Stanley Bay. Golf Club.—An application from the Wai lemata Golf Club for permission to play over land at Narrow Neck, now leased to Mr Pell, was granted. Coal Bius.— Captain .Tames Smitb applied for a site for conl bins in the vicinity of Hobson-strent wliarf, in lieu of that of which the Board had resumed possession. He also stated that he was taking immetll ate steps to remove from tlie railway wharf. The letters were referred to the committee. O'Neill's Point Wharf.—On the motion of Wie chairman. It was resolved that the eree tion of the wharf at O'NeiU's Point be proceeded with. Mr Mitchelson said the money [stipulated for hud been paid by the Takapuna Tramway and Ferry Company. A letter from tlie company, asking permission to reclaim laud in connection with the eitcavation at the approach to the wharf, was referred to the Board in committee. Stanley-street Sewer.—Mr Macfarlane moved that this Board take steps to cause the discharge from Stanley-street sewer to be carried out to low water mark. He said at the present time there was a very offonsive smell from the sewer. He thought the sewage should be carried by an iron pipe below low water mark. He thought the City Council, Parnell Council, Government, and Harbour Board shonld contribute to the cost. Mr Entrican seconded the motion. Air Dacre moved that the matter go to the Board In committee. Mr 8.-iKley seconded the amendment, which was finally agreed upon. A Concession Asked For.—Messrs Newson and Caulsou wrote re the Board's claim for £748 14/8, stating that, while not disputing the actual correctness of the charges, stating that, as regards the hire of the Prlestman. dredger, they were not using It half the time charged for, ana for that reason the punts were idle half the time. They askea for reoate of half the £410 7/6 enarsed under those heads. All other items they were prepared to cheerfully pay. The letter was referred to the committee.
