" Standard's " Colonial Supplement ! (Received 10.5 a.m.) ' MELBOURNE, this day. Eeferring to the recent cable from . London concerning the subsidised weekly 1 colonial supplement of the "London Standard," Mr. DeaJdn said yesterday that the. Federal Government had not . considered the proposal of subsidising the "Standard," but they were considering the proposition of advertising Australia ■ by taking certain space in the new weekly issue of that paper. The rest of the issue would be made up by cables from Canada, ! South Africa, and other parts of the ' j Empire." He wanted to see if the States ' j would join in taking part in this advertising.
