' Cattle.—At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday dairy and store stock were yarded 1_ usual numbers, with a full supply of beef. Dairy cows sold at from £4 10/ to _7; heifers, £3 10/ to £5-K/: empty cows, £! 2/0 to £3 5/; calves, 15/ to £1 8/. Bidding for beef was scarcely as brisk as the previous week, although quotations were the same, oxen selling to 23/ per 1001b and cows at 17/ to 21/. Steers sold at from £0 10/ to £10 17/6: cows, £3 10/ to £7 5/. The fat cattle throughout were of excellent quality, although no extra heavy weights were yarded. Sheep.—These were penned in full numbers at Newmarket, on Tuesday, and sold under .steady competition, prices 'beinglower than the previous week, wethers selling at from 15/6 to £1 8/, ewes 13/6 to 18/6, well-fatted lambs 10/6 to 14/9, other sorts I 6/6 to 10/. The advertised Angora goats averaged £3 11/6. Billys sold at from £3 18/ to £610/; nannies, £2 1/ to £3 18/. Pigs.—Porkers sold at from £1 8/ to £1--17/; weaaers, 3/6 to 12/6; baconers, £2 2/ to £3 1/. Ws submitted an extra large catalogue of hides, skins, and tallow on Tnesday, all lines meeting with good competition at late rates. Hides:—The market Is firm. We quote: Extra stout ox. 7d to Tid; stout do., 61d to 6Jd: medium do., sgd to 6d; light do., 3d to 5Jd; cows', best lines, 4gd to 4jd, good 45d to 4_d, scored 3Jd to 4|d; kips, 3d to 4Jd; calfskins, 3d to sd; stags', 2Jd to 3d. Sheepskins.—Market firm. Best butchers' pelts and lambs, 1/6 to 1/9; others. 1/ to 1/4. Tallow.—The market is lower. Best mixed,' 23/6 to 25/6; good, 21/6 to 22/fi; inferior, 18/ to 20/; rough fat, 7sd per lb. Bones, £4 15/. Cow tails. 1/8 dozen. Horsehair, 1/ to 1/4*. Maize.—Su.plies are again very much short of requirements, and the market remains firm at 5/3 on wharf for wholesale lines. Wheat is in good demand at 5/3 ex store. Oats are selling at U/9 c.i.f. for wholesale lines. Butter;— The market is easier excepting for choice separator, which is selling at IOJd to lid; good quality, 9)d to 10d; poor, 9d. Cheese.—Factory is selling at 6d; farmers', 5d to 5Jd. Fungus is selling freely at 4Jd.
