JAPANNING KOREA.
A Chinese Protest,

PEKIN, April 28.
China has protested against the Japanese administration of Korea, including that of the Chientas territory between Korea and China.
[The Japanese effected a coup d' etat in Korea last year by compelling the Emperor Vi Pu to resign in favour of his son, the Crown Prince. The step was precipitated by the action of the Emperor, always anti-Japanese, in sending envoys to the Peace Conference at the Hague—an infringement of the Convention of 1905, which established a theoretical protectorate over Korea, and entrusted Japan with the control of her foreign relations. Japan at once seized the long-waited opportunity of re-assert-ing her position, deposed the Emperor, disbanded the Korean troops after some sharp fighting in the streets, and forced the newly-appointed Emperor to sign a convention under which his country passed from Japanese protection to her full control.
