THE GOLDFIELDS.
WAIHI GRAND JUNCTION. NEW DEVELOPMENTS. CBy Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. The new development at No. 4 level of the Waihi Grand Junction i s proving to be one of importance, and the value of the company's property has been considerably enhanced thereby. The reef has now been penetrated 13ft, the last 3ft of -which is in ore worth £4 10/ per ton. At noon on Saturday there seemed to be every indication that the cut was close against the footwall. The identity of the lode has not yet been determined, and can only be ascertained by development. There are those who are inclined to believe that it is the well-known Empire lode which has proved to be such a great bullion producer in tEe lo l.yt locals of the Waihi mine, whflst others hold that the vein is a stranger, and that the Empire is still ahead; In any ease the lode is very welcome, and has proved a source of encouragement not only to the Grand Junction shareholders, but also to those of the Waihi Extended adjoining.
