W. Burton, Chairman Onetree Hill ted Board, asking the Mayor to i call a meeting of local suburban bodies to j discuss the question, was also received. The Mayor said he was arranging for a conference about Thursday, and on his motion the letters were allowed to stand over until after the conference. ' •

- Footpath.—A. complaint re .the state of the footpath in Upper Card well-street. It was decided to have the work done at once. Volunteer Camp.—A request was received from Colonel Holgate for the use of the Borough reserve at Te Papa for a volunteer camp. Permission was granted, subject to arrangements being made with the lessees. The Estimates.—The Mayor stated that the estimated re-eenue for the forthcoming year was £3600, and submitted the estimated expenditure, .the proposals beine adopted. . . °

: J** tes - —The Mayor gave notice of motion, That the following rates be levied: (1) A general rate of 1/ in the £; <2) a hospital and charitable aid rate of 2d in the £■ (3) a library rate of id .in the £; also a water rate of 3 per cent upon all property in" the Borough,, to which water is supplied, whose annual ratable value exceeds £12" 10/ per annmn, under that amount a minimum rate of 8/, non-consumers half the.above rates; outside the Borough a rate of 4 per cent, plus 20 per cent' extra upon the annual ratable value, as fixed by tie Council. All others to be charged as per ~ waterworks oy-Uws, except in the case of stock, which shall be payable not later than 14 days after the period charged for."
