TE DRANGA HOWIE INQUIRY.

"A WELL-MANAGED INSTITUTION." "DOING EXCELLENT WORK." (By Telegraph.—Pi-ess Association.) ■ CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. , The Te Oranga Home inquiry was continued yesterday, when Mr. T. J. Smaill, lay evangelist, who has made, a practice of visiting the home regularly since its inception, gave evidence. He stated it was one of the best managed institutions in the Dominion, and was doing excellent work under the care of Mrs. Branting, who always watched over the inmates with motherly care. In regard to classification, he thought the first step necessary was a kind of receiving building, a place where new arrivals could be placed, and whence they could be drafted! into higher classes according to conduct. This portion should-be under the control of an assistant of kindly disposition, and one who had a real love for the work. The girls should be encouraged to lead a better life, and every inducement should be offered them to graduate to the highest classes in the institution.
